Top o' the World Leprechaun Stories

After our class read several books about leprechauns, they were inspired to write their own stories.   Here they are!

 

How to Catch a Leprechaun

First, you have to go to Ireland.  Then you go to a rocky place, where there is spring water or at the end of a rainbow.  Then, don’t take your eye off the leprechaun.  He is being sneaky.  Grab him and he’ll tell you where his gold’s at.

I Tried to Catch a Leprechaun

One day, I was walking on a path when I heard some tapping.  Since it was almost St. Patrick’s Day, I thought for a moment.  Then I said, “I think it’s a leprechaun.”  I snuck up very quietly and tried to catch him.  But he ran away.  That’s how I tried to catch a leprechaun.

Directions for a Leprechaun

First you can only find a leprechaun in Ireland.  Second, you go to the end of the rainbow.  You get a shovel because if you don’t have a shovel, you can’t dig up the gold.  Always make sure it is real.  Then, if it is real, take it home and never let a leprechaun trick you.

The Leprechaun

Once upon a time, there was an old man who wanted to take a walk.  So he did.  He went in the grassy fields.  But when he started to walk, he heard a mysterious sound of tapping.  “Who’s there?” asked the old man.  He didn’t get an answer.  “It must have been my mind,” said the old man, shrugging.  But then he heard it again.  This time he followed the noise.  He found a leprechaun.  “Is it?  Can it be?” asked the old man.  He found a leprechaun, but the leprechaun tricked him good.  So, just like when he started, he walked home.

First, make a house his size.  Put fake gold inside a pot in the house.  Put a tiny bed in the house.  Make a fence around the house.  Then you might catch him.  Do not let him go.

You have to use a big piece of gold that shines so bright that a leprechaun tries to find it.   When the leprechaun goes after the gold, you throw it into a hole.  When the leprechaun tries to get it, he gets stuck in the hole.  Then you get a ladder and go into the hole to get him.  That’s how you get a leprechaun.

Did you say I need some little person to make me some shoes?  Maybe he will come and make you some shoes, too.  Then you walk away.  If you hear him coming, you jump out and grab him.

Only on St. Patrick’s Day, listen for a tap, tap.  That means a leprechaun is near.  Go find that tapping.   Always take a shovel.  Once you find the tapping, you will find the leprechaun.  Never take your eyes off of him.  Dive towards him and catch him.  If not, catch him with a shovel.

First come to Ireland.  Then, you need to tiptoe as quiet as you can be.  If you can find me, my rule is to tell you where the gold is.  But, I might trick you.  I might, I just might tell you to look at the end of the rainbow.  Then you will find it.  Oh, yes you will.

Once there was a leprechaun who was in the grass.  A path was there.  It went to the end of the rainbow.  He had some gold there.  He took it back home.   He did not know what to spend it on.  Maybe he should spend it on some more gold.  So he did.

If you want to catch a leprechaun, you must go to Ireland.  Go to a place with large rocks or clear spring water.  Even at the end of a rainbow.  When you find a leprechaun, keep your eyes open and grab him. Then he’ll tell you where his pot of gold is.

I’ll get a pot and get chocolate shaped like gold.  I’ll get a net.  When a leprechaun comes by, I’ll throw the net on him.  Then, I’ll say, “Where’s your gold?”  Then, he’ll tell me.

2.      Buy some chocolate with a golden wrapper.

3.      Get a bowl and put the chocolate in.

4.      Put it by a rainbow.

Well, first I want to tell you leprechauns are super smart.  So you had better be smart.  I think most leprechauns are at the end of the rainbow or in Ireland.  If you want to catch a leprechaun, get really close to him.  Grab him.  Remember, never leave his side ever.  Because, if you do, he will run away and you will probably never see him again.
